TLDR

A messenger bag with lots of built-in organization, designed with makers, artists, and creators in mind. Just like the Café Bags, the Maker's Bag is stylized with a distinctive asymmetrical flap.

Full Description

The general contours of the Maker's Bag (with the exception of its exaggerated thickness) follow those of the Café Bags. To us, the Maker's Bag was a logical extension of the Café Bags, but with a volume and wider base closer to that of the Swift. Its wide bottom and piping help it to stand up on its own: that way, you can access your stuff without holding it open. That thickness also means that it's big enough that with the flap up, you can see easily into the main compartment.

Main Compartment

Under the asymmetrical flap is an open-top main compartment. The front interior wall and interior ends of the main compartment have five sewn-on organizational pockets. The three pockets on the front interior wall are made with elastic-banded open-top halcyon or Cerylon fabric. A Clear 3D Organizer Cube can fit in the center pocket of three, and a pen/pencil case can fit in either the left or right pocket. The remaining two pockets, one on each interior end, are made with a stretchy mesh fabric. These two pockets are ideal for stowing a travel mug or water bottle. The remainder of the main compartment can store the Travel Tray, a laptop (up to 13") in a Cache, a Maker's Bag Freudian Slip, a jacket, lunch, or supplies of any kind. 

The main compartment has four O-rings, two on the front and one on each end. The O-ring on the left side of the main compartment of the Maker's Bag has an included 8" Key Strap. The O-rings are here for you when you want to tether on additional organizer pouches, Cubelets, or 3D Cubes.

On the back interior wall of the main compartment is a zippered pocket that spans the width of the Maker's Bag. This pocket is an ideal place for a small laptop (up to 11") or tablet, magazine, or folded jacket or sweater.

Zippered Pocket Under Front Flap

On the exterior front side of the main compartment is a zippered pocket that spans the width of the Maker's Bag. The pocket unzips from left to right. One O-ring is thoughtfully placed to allow immediate access to a Key Strap, Organizer Pouch, and/or wallet without even fully unzipping the compartment. 

Inside the zippered pocket are four open-top organizational pockets of equal size, perfect for storing your phone, small notebook, and glasses/sunglasses case. The remainder of the pocket has room for an e-reader, book, snacks, gloves, and other larger items. 

Slanted Slip Pocket in the Back

On the back exterior side, right behind the grab handle is a slanted slip pocket that covers the entire width of the bag. This pocket is designed to store quick-access items.

    Good work bag

    Well-sized work bag. I adore all the pockets for organizing every little thing. It came with a lot of straps attached that I didn't quite know what to do with so.i tool them all off but the shoulder strap. Love the fun contrast color interior. Things that mildly annoy me are that I got the upgraded strap and no matter how I position it, it squeaks. And I can't figure out from where. The other thing is the open pocket in back and the loose flap that covers the top. I could never use this as a daily bag in Seattle because water would get inside. Where I am now with less rain and more car time, it is a fantastic bag that keeps me organized.

    My new favorite bag

    This bag is amazing. I love the colorway combination. Incredibly durable, perfect size for an EDC. Love the organization and different ways to customize with accessories. I'll be taking it as my personal item for upcoming travel as well but it's been a perfect daily bag for work as well.

    Delightful Day-Carry Bag

    I really enjoy the Maker's Bag as a day-carry bag, and as my daily purse these days. Its large, open middle pocket really fits my grab and go lifestyle, while the many little pockets and zippered bits keep my take-along ensemble firmly in place and organized. I use a Side Effect as my EDC and it bounces around from bag to bag, but fits very well in the middle along with my blood sugar meter and a water bottle in an end stretchy-holder (love those). I can tuck my work notebook and lunch bag in there as well, no problem. The addition of the pocket on the back of the bag was GENIUS, as it is so easy to toss my phone in there or whatever I need to stash quickly, then I can clear it out once I get home. I like that the waist strap lets me hook the bag to a rolly-type carry on suitcase also for easy transit. Yes, definitely yes, to this bag!!! I love it in Halcyon best and am excited for my pre-order in Spectron, but this Wilderness ballistic went camping with us last week and did a phenomenal job both there and when we ended up in the city. I added a guitar-ish strap to it for a pop of additional color, and that adds an even happier note! Thanks!

    Perfect Teacher Bag

    I teach elementary music and have been casually looking to replace my work bag for months. Nothing I looked at was quite right, until I was searching Reddit and someone recommended the Maker’s Bag. I checked it out and was really impressed. I wasn’t ready to commit yet, but over the course of the next few days I kept coming back to the bag. It holds everything I need and looks *good* doing it.     Great on my trip!

    I took the Maker's Bag on spring break. I filled it with little things like notebook, ipad mini, mints, lip balm and keys, a packing cube shoulder bag (so I didn't have to take my suitcase into the hotel we stopped at during the drive), a knit sack with a yarny project in it, and a Bantam I use as a purse. Everything fit and was organized. Score!
