Full Description
Grab and Carry Options
The Night Flight Travel Duffel comes with a multitude of grab and carry options. It comes standard with, well, the Standard Strap. Comfortably designed scoops at the bottom of the side compartments make it easy to grab even from the overhead bin. An oversized, squishy handle keeps the two individual handles together while carrying it while keeping balanced. Finally, if you don't feel like carrying it anymore, there is a passthrough for wheeled luggage handles.
End Pockets
A pocket etches a gentle curve in the upper third of each of the two short sides of the Night Flight Travel Duffel. These pockets are easily accessible even from under-seat, and are the perfect place to put a pair of earbuds, a Travel Pillow, or a quick treat on the plane.
Side Compartments
Above the end pockets, on each edge of the duffel, are the larger side compartments. They are mirror images of each other, a slip pocket inside large enough to fit an iPad Mini or eReader inside each, and as one would expect with us, two o-rings for your attachment needs.
Each pocket is quite large, measuring in at approximately 10" x 4" x 8" seam-to-seam. Perfect for even the largest things you want quick access with just a quick tug of the scoop to pull the side zipper out from under the seat.
Main Compartment
The main compartment is a generously sized open area measuring in around 10" x 7" x 8". The lid has a mesh zipper pocket for all the small knickknacks you want safely stashed under your handles. The compartment also has a bevy of o-rings, 4 to be exact.
What's Included
Standard Shoulder Strap
This one is a little different than most of our other shoulder straps, but not by much. No pad or grip, just a plain shoulder strap the width of our Standard shoulder strap.
8" Snaphook/Snaphook Key Strap
As with most of our bags, we've included a key strap. 8" long from tip-to-tip, a snaphook on either end. Good for attaching your keys to.
A Set of Black Zipper Pulls
A set of pulls to extend or replace your metal pulls.
What's Optional
Upgrade the Standard shoulder strap to an Absolute Shoulder Strap for a comfortable carry with even the heaviest load.

I have 7 Tom Bihn pieces of luggage (backpacks, Aeronaut 30, cross body, pilot, etc). I wanted a small personal item for the airplane, and thought this "smaller Aeronaut" would be perfect. Well, it is perfect as a carry-on. I used it with the Aeronaut 30 for a 10-day trip to Scotland with daily in-country travel and it did work very well both on the plane and for easy daily unpacking and packing using Eagle Creek compression bags. My only complaint is that I can't use it as an overnight bag by itself. I always carry an extra pair of shoes or sandals, and my size 11s just do not fit. I wish the end compartments could be an inch less, or that one of the dividers between the center and end section could be unzipped like the Aeronaut.

I’ve used another manufacturer’s bag as my personal item on flights for a number of years, starting back when I carried a laptop and paperwork. That waxed-canvas bag had room for those plus cables, chargers, a camera, along with snacks and a few odds and ends. But it was really designed for a laptop and perhaps a tablet, and some files, divided between two skinny sections running the length of the bag.
Enter the Tom Bihn Night Flight. I splurged on a whim, and have ended up very glad that I did!
When I first saw the bag, I thought it was smaller than it looked in the photos. And I assumed it wouldn’t carry as much as I hoped. It has matching sections on each end, with a center are accessed fron the top.
There’s no room for a laptop, but the center area is just big enough to fit an 11” iPad Pro with Magic Keyboard case, along with snacks, a book, and a sweater for the flight. I have my camera, cables, and charger in one end, with stuff for the flight on the other end.
The only flight irritation is that the shoulder strap can sometimes get in the way when accessing the main central section, but that’s minor.
The bag is well made, materials look good, the zippers are sturdy, and it’s not heavy.
I’m a happy camper!

With this duffel, you’ll never doubt whether the airlines will accept this bag as a personal (under seat) carry on. It’s the perfect size: Small on the outside, but big on the inside with plenty of pockets to keep you hyper-organized. Sadly, TB doesn’t offer packing cubes scaled to fit this popular duffel bag. Until then, I’ll continue using Thule’s small compression packing cubes which easily fit in the duffel’s generous main compartment or in the two large side pockets.

I bought this for a trip to Tanzania. It was just what I needed for that trip. Held my camera, binoculars and enough carryon stuff to keep me comfortable, identified, permitted, funded and entertained for 45 hours of flight time. And left room for my feet beside it. Also served well as day bag at my feet during 7 days of 4x4 safari travel, where it held optical stuff, extra clothes, personal items and field guides. Padded design made it seem safe for optical equipment. That said, if I had like only 3 travel bags, this wouldn’t be one of them. For me it’s somewhat specialized. Not very useful for business travel, for instance.

I love this duffle bag. I had looked at it online and considered buying it, but thought it might be too small. Then I had the opportunity to visit the new Tom Bihn store and saw the bag in person. It looked like just what I needed for under the airplane seat - and it was!
Although the main compartment is not especially big, it is big enough to hold my EDC and a small knitting project. The pockets on the ends are roomy and allow me to separate snacks, lotion, etc so I don’t have to paw through everything each time I want something.
I got a beautiful color combination: blue with pink interior. Just looking at it makes me happy!
