11/29 Debut & Restock Notes

Our next debut and restock will be on Monday, 11/29, at 7:00am Pacific Time. Want to see everything that'll be debuted and restocked in one spot? Visit the 11/29 Debut & Restock page. Have questions? Ask in the comments (you'll be notified via email when we respond!)

And, after that, our next restock is tentatively scheduled for 12/13. Two things worth noting: we plan to stock more Organic Cotton Trucks on 12/13 and 12/14 is the recommended last day to place UPS Ground orders to the East Coast for delivery by or on 12/24.

DEBUTS

The Old-School Carry-All

An Old School Carry-All with its main compartment unzipped, held wide open so you can see what's packed inside!

The Old School Carry-All (OSCA) is a reissue of a TOM BIHN design of the 1990's. It features a generous main compartment that's flanked on either side by 3D zippered pockets, one of which is mesh. Carry it by its comfortable padded handles or add an optional shoulder strap and you're good to go.

Worth noting: we made plenty of OSCAs in an effort to prevent them from selling out too quickly, so we don't think that will happen. If they do sell out, they won't be restocked until sometime in early 2022.

The Organic Cotton Truck

Person carrying an Organic Cotton Truck in Natural while shopping in a market for flowers.

A special edition of our classic Truck tote. It's made with Organic Cotton that's grown in Texas, woven in small mills in North and South Carolina, and finished in North Carolina. Available in three colors dyed just for us: Natural, Talus grey, and Santa Cruz electric purple/blue.

We made a plentiful batch of Organic Cotton Trucks, and we're already working on a second batch that we expect to stock on 12/13.

Tray Bien

Small Tray Bien and Medium Tray Bien on a desk serving as organizers, wrangling the chaos that might otherwise exist!

The Tray Bien was originally designed by Tom to organize and display our various Organizer Pouches and Key Straps at our Seattle Factory Showroom. Folks who stopped by to browse always asked if they could purchase the Tray itself in addition to the Organizer Pouches it held. And now they can!

Here’s a few of the ways the crew here at TOM BIHN use the Tray Bien:

Worth noting: as we shared in our More Updates & What's Next post, we don't expect to restock the Tray Bien until sometime in 2022 due to a materials delay.

Tom's Firewood Carrier

Two people in front of a stone circle campfire; Tom's Firewood Carrier is between them holding some logs.

It's now a tradition: during the holiday season, we restock Tom's Firewood Carrier. It's based off a simple design that Tom made back in the 1970's as gifts for family and friends.

We've made plenty of Tom's Firewood Carriers and don't expect them to sell out. We expect that the next time they'd be restocked is during the 2022 holiday season.

Large Shepherd's Wool Utility Cloth in Glasgow & Home Modern Tartans

Large Shepherd's Utility Cloth used in a gift basket.

Modern and Glasgow Tartans will be available in our Large Shepherd's Wool Utility Cloth! There's so many uses for these cloths. This year we're all about wrapping, bundling, or protecting other gifts in the Shepherd's Wool Cloths: what's better than gift wrap that's actually functional and reusable in countless ways?

RESTOCKS

Techonaut 30
Techonaut 45
Techonaut 30 Packing Cubes
Techonaut 45 Packing Cubes

Person packing a Techonaut 30 that's sitting on the bed in a hotel room.

This is the first time that the Techonaut 30 and Techonaut 45  have been restocked. We debuted the Techonaut for pre-order this summer. As you might recall, it's a travel bag that can be carried as a backpack, duffel, or shoulder bag. Features include a dedicated laptop compartment, breathable back panel, and our famous Edgeless shoulder straps.

Packing Cubes designed to fit either the Techonaut 30 or Techonaut 45 have also been restocked. (If you're looking for the Laundry Packing Cubes: those will be stocked end of this month or early next year.)

Synik 30

Person working on a laptop in an airport; their Synik 30 is on their rolling luggage.

The Synik 30 needs no introduction: it's so popular that despite doing our best, we've had trouble keeping it stocked this year. So, here we are, restocking it once again. If you've had your eye on the Synik 30, we would recommend ordering sooner rather than later.

Everyday Cubelet

This photo shows the Everyday Cubelet in Northwest Sky on a very Northwest kind of day. It's a versatile bag that can be used as a minimal shoulder bag or as an organizer inside of your larger bag.

Small Cafe Bag

Person wearing a Small Cafe Bag in Canary; they're wearing a Navy blue coat.

The ever-classic Small Cafe Bag. It's one of those bags folks gift to both themselves and their loved ones.

Medium Cafe Bag

Person carrying a Medium Cafe Bag in Beaver Camo by its handle.

The next size up of our classic Cafe bags.

Small & Large Zip-Top Shop Bags (Cerylon + other fabrics)
Small & Large Original Shop Bags (Cerylon + other fabrics)

Person sitting on a park bench with Cerylon Original Shop Bags in Cobalt and Sangria.

These are hot off the factory floor, completed just in time to be included in the 11/29 Debut & Restock.

It's like Shop Bags were always meant to be made out of Cerylon: the hand of the fabric offers the perfect amount of softness and structure.

Will the Technonaut ship right away, if ordered on 11/29? Or are they just becoming available for pre-order/to be fulfilled later? Thanks!

TOM BIHN replied:
The Techonauts are done, in our warehouse, and they’ll be in-stock on 11/29 and will ship within 1-5 business days after your order is placed. (That 1-5 days is because we’re currently experiencing a higher than normal order volume! Gives our shipping department a little breathing space.)

If you need your Techonaut by a particular date, definitely emailus@tombihn.com and let us know.

Hi TB,

I asked about the knitting Tool clear pouches. Unfortunately the reply I received was about the knitting bags “It might be that the Swift / Little Swift / Yarn Stuff Sacks are difficult to improve upon”.
However my question was never answered so now I’m asking again.
Will the Knitting Tool Clear pouch ever return in a new manner or old style?
Thank you!

TOM BIHN replied:
Hi there! Sorry about that. It’s possible the Knitting Tool Pouches could return as part of a Swift/Little Swift pre-order, though we aren’t sure as of now whether that would be the case.

Pamela - November 27, 2021

Hi! Any update on the new knitting pouches?
———
TOM BIHN replied:
We shared this update earlier somewhere (can’t find where!) so we’ll share it again here ~ hope this helps: I’m afraid the new knitting bag design has hit something of a wall for the time being — as can happen in the creative process! It might be that the Swift / Little Swift / Yarn Stuff Sacks are difficult to improve upon… speaking of which: if the new design doesn’t pick up steam or overcome its creative blocks, we plan to offer the Swift / Little Swift / Yarn Stuff Sacks in 2022. Hope that helps!

Hello, some of the Small Travel Trays say they will be restocked in November, but they are not listed in your 11/29 restock. Are there plans still to make these available on 11/29 ? Sorry If this was mentioned already and I’ve overlooked it. Thank you so much!!

TOM BIHN replied:
Thanks for spotting that! We updated the date. It’s looking more like early December for those… they’re very close to done, but not quite close enough to done to make it into the 11/29 restock. Hope this helps.

The main use I have in mind for a Tray Bien is to wrangle the remotes in my living room. I’ve been using a large travel tray for this purpose and it has worked well enough but I think a medium Tray Bien would work even better.

TOM BIHN replied:
Yes! It’s great for corralling remotes. Also, supplements/vitamins and keys/wallet/sunglasses/stuff by the door.
